Question : laptop screens brightness, compatibility other

Hi,
I recenently got a few latops in with screen issues,
one was a dell, i changed the screen, since i did this the screen is displaying extremly bright and sharp (i have tried FN etc).
Is there ways to alter this, or does it point to lcd screen compatibilty issue.  It was not an exact match, ie screen is for simlar dell.
Are laptop screens very akward with compatibilty, i.e do they have to be close matches.
Is there ways in bios to alter? or make compatible.

I would try changing the inverter.
