I think I had a similiar problem once.
The problem I had revolved around the password failing. I punched the error code into Google got plenty of hits including Microsoft Support.
The same fix is worth a try.
Use the ODBC Data Source Administrator (look for odbcad32.exe). If you don't have it, surf Google for instructions on how to get and install it.
Open it up and do the following:
1. Make a back-up copy 2. Click the 'User DSN' tab 3. Click 'Add' 4. Choose 'Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)' 5. Click on 'Repair' 6. Browse to your database (did you make a back-up copy?!) 7. Click 'OK'
Good luck. I know that all-to-familiar feeling in the pit of your stomach when problems like this happen.
Personally, I never make the smallest change to my databases without taking a second to make a copy of it.
