Question : Safely remove hardware keeps popping up

I have a fujitsu s series laptop with xp and recently I started getting this message "the device can be safely removed" for no reason. The device is my cd rom. Any ideas?

To be it sound like a a swapable CD-Rom drive and it has a bad connection. If it is a swapable drive, take it out and reseat it again.
