Question : IE can't see internet, but pings gateway ok
Hi, working on a laptop with ie8. This is set to connect to a hub that farms out an internet connection via ICS. Other laptops just plug to the hub and go.
Network connection shows ok in SysTray, and NIC has connectivity LED shown. Can Ping the default gateway, and IPCONFIG /RELEASE and /RENEW work nicely. Laptop is picking up an address of 192.
168.0.6
Stuff done - Laptop was set to be on a Domain, and moved to Workgroup, of same name as the ICS Host PC. Rebooted.
IE.. Tools.. Connections.. LAN settings - unticked Proxy, and all other boxes there. Rebooted.
Windows Firewall turned off.
No Norton software installed.
Tried browsing by IP address, rather than name - no change.
Tried Start>> Run: netsh winsock reset
Network settings - have made sure that the LAN connection is on Auto Auto for DNS and DHCP.
Answer : IE can't see internet, but pings gateway ok
Give LSPfix a shot. It has worked very well in the past to correct this type of issue.
