Question : Word 2007 error on converter MSWRD632

I have a user that has Office 2007.  Every morning via File Explorer, she highlights 2003 version Word files and chooses print.  Today she started getting this error:

"Word cannot start the converter MSWRD632".

I can do this on my PC with the same files, so I know it's not a corrupt Word file.  Also, the files she printed yesterday, she can not print today.  She can open the files in Word and print them one at a time, just not print them via explorer.  Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
Andy

Answer : Word 2007 error on converter MSWRD632

The possible issue for this is Microsoft security update (@December 8, 2009). Please refer below thread for more detail. This may cause the issue "Word cannot start the converter MSWRD632".

The reason why, your PC is not effected, may be your PC is not update with the security updates :)

The fix is explained as below:

  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

For 32-bit versions of Windows
     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Wordpad
For Microsoft Windows on Windows 64 (WOW) mode
     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Wordpad

  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  4. Type AllowConversion for the name of the DWORD, and then press ENTER.
  5. Right-click AllowConversion, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
  7. Exit Registry Editor.
