Question : no default printer being set for terminal services 2008
i have a Windows 2008 Terminal Server setup with everything working except this strange issue. some of my clients (3 each at a different location), aren't getting any default printer being set. All of their printers are there and we are using terminal services easy print, but without a default set, the first print attempt never happens and the second print attempt does.
any suggestions as to why this is happening. all clients are xp sp3 with the .net 3.5 and the c++ redistribution package installed.
all printers are being added to the session and after a default printer is set either manually or by a failed print attempt, the users can print just fine.
Answer : no default printer being set for terminal services 2008
the solution was actually a simple one. we upgraded to Windows 2008 Service Pack 2 and that fixed this problem.
