Question : Mapping drives via script, setting the drives and subfolders for Offline Availability & clearing current Oflline Files Cache

I have a small network with about 20 users, XP & Vista, most laptop's. There is a Windows 2003 Server running Active Directory, sharing files & Printers. There was a share setup and mapped to the P: on the client computers \\file-server\Project Files. Inside this share, there is a folder named Client Files, with all of the clients set up with a folder below. I had this set to be always available offline, including all subfolders and files. I was asked to remove 4 of the clients folders from this location, and map them out as their own drives, which I have done using a batch file and GP. I also set in the group policy for the directories to be available offline, manually added them and they are not currently available offline even though I have set them to be. I asked the users to right click and make available offline and some work and some dont. Most do not make ALL subfolders available offline either. I also want to clear the offline files cache on these client computers on login so that it recaches and removes the directories that have been moved to their own mapped drive.

Answer : Mapping drives via script, setting the drives and subfolders for Offline Availability & clearing current Oflline Files Cache

i can see you know what you are doing, and am not going to try to check. reading your post i can see you want to map directories as drives and have them available even when offline.

for that, try this link:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc778661(WS.10).aspx

then try this one to map them:
http://blogs.technet.com/askds/archive/2009/01/07/using-group-policy-preferences-to-map-drives-based-on-group-membership.aspx

and then try this one to re-initialize or clear offline cache:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/230738

this might come in handy as well:

decided to give you links so you can read and get more details about these.

hope it helps
