Question : Vista Business logs off immediately after login.

Laptop user of Vista Business x64 is experiencing an immediate log off upon trying to log in. Screen progresses from Welcome immediately to Logging Off, and a return to 'press ctrl-alt-del'.

User has local administrative privileges, user Administrator can log in successfully, likewise the affected user can log in under Safe Mode.

Nothing looks immediately out of place in the registry.

I've checked the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon entry Userinit as mentioned in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929825 and it is set correctly.

Answer : Vista Business logs off immediately after login.

if it's only happening with that user then it's definitely a profile issue and deleting it and recreating it would be the easiest / quickest thing to do - you could spend days trying to find the problem and not being able to log in in the first place is going to make it that much more difficult
