Question : Unable to Activate Office 2007 Professional

I just received a Vista Laptop. This was upgraded to Windows 7. All programs were transferred across using lap link from an old laptop. Office programs work but whenever you open an office program the activation wizards opens. If you select activate via the Internet the following error message is received "A communication error has occurred. Your request cannot be processed at this time. Please try again in a few minutes; 701098" I have switched off the firewall, still have the same problems. If I select activate via the telephone, the wizards closes. I have deleted the following reg keys "Digital ProductID & ProductID" When you open an office product, a wizard runs; I enter the new product key but still have the same problem. I have uninstalled and reinstall office. But still have the same problem. Appreciate any help with this. Many thanks Alan

Answer : Unable to Activate Office 2007 Professional

Hi Alanrosier!
Answer extract from microsoft support
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822519

"This issue may occur if you configure your Internet connection to use a proxy server that requires authentication. When the Activation Wizard cannot connect through the proxy server to an internal Microsoft server to transfer your installation ID to Microsoft, you receive an error message.

Alternatively, this issue may occur if your firewall software is blocking the attempt to connect to the server through your Internet connection. When the Activation Wizard cannot connect to an internal Microsoft server to transfer your installation ID to Microsoft, you receive an error message."

To work around this issue, try the following 3 methods. that microsoft publish in the article
