Question : Normal.dot NOT set to read-only, but i cannot delete or rename it

For the love of God in Heaven above, Vista is the worst nightmare. I mean, I have never considered buying a Mac, but not so much now.

Can someone tell me the secret to solving the following:

(1) I open a file in word - any file for ant reason whether to read it, edit it... whatever.

(2) When I close the file I am prompted by Word that it is unable to save Normal.dot because it is in use by another user or application.

(3) My workaround is to double click another file I created "wtf.doc" and then the Word application closes.

(4) I am unable to rename or delete the Normal.dot file in the /user/appdata/roaming/microsoft/template directory because I am told it is in use by another user.

(5) I have checked and double-checked the read-only attribute and it is NOT set.

Please... please... help me with this. It should be easy as apple WTF pie, but we're dealing with 64-bit Vista, so nothing is easy.

Thanks in advance!

Answer : Normal.dot NOT set to read-only, but i cannot delete or rename it

Hi there;

Boot your machine to safe mode with F8 or CTRL while booting the machine, then you can delete/rename delete whatever you want to Normal.dot or Normal.dotm.

But let me say;

If Word Is your E-mail Editor, then you cannor rename or delete Normal.dot.
