Question : Use Acces 2007 to create a saleable package
I have a software application written in Access. The functionality of the package is ideal for damll to medium businesses and works very well in Access (2007). For sometime I have been investigating making it into a saleable package.
I see a market for this application but I am nervous about selling it in its Access form.
Reasons:
1. Everytime I mention this people day something along the lines of "Ooooh don't do that ... not in Access". But no one can give me a really could reason why not. It's compiled. well written, protected.
2. Microsoft are withdrawing support from VBA.
I don't see an alternative to Access.
- I'm warned off Visual Studio Express and SQL Server Express as being just for a hobby (though the maxdatabase size is bigger than Access according to MS site).
- Visual Studio SQl Server seems way over the top and costs a fortune.
I don't particularly want pt have to shift to a non microsft platform.
Any thoughts pn points 1 and 2?
Should I go for Access.

Answer : Use Acces 2007 to create a saleable package
Lou,
Access gets a lot of sneers from IT snobs, but it is actually a terrific option for many types of implementations.
If you have a product that works well in Access and is in demand, go for it.
