Question : Reporting Services - Key not valid for use in specified state

Using SQL 2005 and Reporting Servieces I have a similar issue as this post
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Microsoft/Development/MS-SQL-Server/SQL-Server-2005/Q_22939754.html

We changed the password of the service account and it seemed fine.   But it must have been the next boot or two where the SSRS service stopped.   While resetting the password under logon as service works to get the service started, the message about the invalid key persists regardless of what we do.   Tried restoring an older database and the same keys are used so it has the same issue.   If I could delete the keys that would be fine, but after deleting the keys I can't regenerate them - the same error message occurs.

What can I do to avoid a reinstall and reconfig of SSRS?   and will that even resolve it?

I've looked through these links and haven't found much

Answer : Reporting Services - Key not valid for use in specified state

This required opening an incident with Microsoft PSS.  They do not know why it occurred  nor how to correct it but the user/ service used in the SSRS configuration tool would not work.  Creating a completely new administrative user with exactly the same privileges  and creating new databases with the tool successfully got past the error.  After that we were able to use the browser reports interface to reconfigure the db connection strings for the reports and then import all the reports from files.   All in all a very painful experience but its now working.
