Question : How to give non-administrator rights to modify data sources ODBC Administrator

The error message is " You are logged on with non-Administrative Priviledges. System DSNs could not be created or modified."
I have a developer where we don't want to give Local Admin rights. But they need access to create DSN's.
Is it possible to give a non-administrator rights to modify data sources with Microsoft ODBC Data Source Administrator ?

Answer : How to give non-administrator rights to modify data sources ODBC Administrator

have you tryed changing the security settings through GPO?

What you do is open up the GPO editor en go to

Computer configuration > Windows Settings > Registry>

Here you add: "Machine\SOFTWARE\ODBC" and change it so that the domain group for developers has the access they need.

You might have to do the same on the FILE SYSTEM part of the gpo (just under Registry) to add the default location of the FILE DSN
