Question : Teaching an ANSI SQL class and need a datasource and editor to practice writing code

I am teaching an introductory SQL class and I need a sample database (datasource) and a tool for my students to practice writing queries and seeing results.  I tried downloading some freeware tools, but they are demonstrations not editors.  Help please.
