Question : Printing to LPT2
|
|
After using the net use command to set lpt2: to my HP4200 network printer, I recieved "The command completed successfully. I type net use, and it displays the status of OK. I have a legancy program that prints from a DOS command and will ONLY print to lpt2. I do not have an internal LPT2 port on my machine. I am logged in as an Administrator of my local machine, and also as a Domain Administrator on the Network. If I send a text file to it using a copy command, I recieve Access is denied. If I send a print job using a print command, I recieve "unable to initialize device" error. This had always worked in the past, I am not sure what has changed. My workstation is a Windows XP Professional with server pack 2. The following are the coomands and errors:
print /d:lpt2: c:\mike.txt (error) unable to initialize device lpt2
copy c:\mike.txt lpt2: (error) access is denied
Thanks for any assistance....... Mike
