Question : Setting Up SMTP Mail Service on Windows XP
Hello all. I have read through many postings on this topic on the site and none of them hit it on the head and I have been spinning my wheels.
Here is the run down. I do development work out side the office. We run Apache 2.2.9 and PHP 5.2.6. I now have a need to send out emails when things happen. My local XP Pro SP2 system has the Apache and PHP installed. I am unable to send the emails to ensure they work because I cannot set up the SMTP within the php.ini file.
Here is the issues.
1. I have a non-routable internal network 192.168.x.x.
2. My ISP assigns me an IP address. It is not routable. 10.11.x.x. No they cannot provide me a routable IP.
3. They present one IP to the word (routable).
4. My company is very small. We outsource our email to them. If I enter in the SMTP outgoing mail.mydomain.com and the port of 25 in my php.ini the email goes.
5. Issue here is that the hosting companies think they are being attacked and BlackListed the IP of my ISP because they think it is a SPAM Relay which it is not.
How do you go about setting up SMTP on XP and then sending Outbound emails? I have installed the IIS on the laptop. CONCERN: Can Apache and IIS both run on the same system?
What settings do I have to make to send the email through what I have shown you?
Thank you for any help you can provide.
John
