Question : How do I import a .jet database into access that has been locked?
|
|
We use FileMagic 5 series for document management, which is old and has been discontinued.
The server it was on crashed, but I was able to salvage the database.
I am now trying to import the data into a new access database, so I can salvage the documents stored inside the database.
The server it was on is toast, we are running on backup data. The server was on the same AD Domain I am on (and I am an administrator of), and if it asked me a password, I do have usernames and passwords that were used to open the database application initially.
Is there some way to force access to request a username and password? Perhaps VBA?
The software is probably 5 years old, or older.

If I try to import the data from the database, I am able to select the tables to import (meaning it lists the tables in the database, so Access can read it), but it then tells me access is denied when it tries to actually get the data.
I am assuming the solution to this problem is to not rely on old, unsupported technology. (Fortis is the new software that replaced File Magic 5 series. They claim to use the MSDE 2000 engine for File Magic 5 series.
I'm wondering if the File Magic software has an administrative username and password built in that I do not have access to.
