Question : Windows 2000 Server strange shutdown/startup problem

I have a problem with our Windows 2000 Advanced Server (which is also DC). This started after I "broke" the mirrored system drive, but I can't see how it can be related (though it may be).
If when the machine is running  I shutdown gracefully and restart then some of the vital services (logon, terminal server etc) don't start, though some, like our email service and database services do.
However if I just pull the plug and restart, everything comes up correctly and the machine works 100%.
However this is completly repeatable, i.e shut down gracefully and it doesn't restart, shut down by pulling  the plug and it does.

Answer : Windows 2000 Server strange shutdown/startup problem

Once the system is up, can you then start the workstation service?  It appears to be the culprit here.

Is the 2nd/broken mirror drive still in system?  If you disconnect its cable (data, not power) do you still have the issue?

I found this blog entry regarding a reg entry for the services: might be worth taking a peek at:

Worst case, if it doesn't fix, you can remove them.
