Question : Turn off Access 2007 Current Version Check
|
|
We are in the midst of a conversion from Access 97 to Access 2007. I have a configuration that is working well for our environment and lets Access 97 and 2007 coexist without too many issues on the same workstation. One of my final hurdles is satisfying some of our Administrative Assistants need to utilize Mail Merge through DDE to an Access 97 database. The need for DDE is due to the fact that they are utilizing queries with prompts. Eventually all of this will be converted but I have to make this work through the interim so we can have a controlled and methodical conversion.
I have found that if I change the registry key for the HKCR\Access.Application\Curver from Access.Application.12 to Access.Application.8 the Mail Merge DDE to Access 97 databases perform beautifully. However, by doing this Access 2007 realizes that it is not the current version the next time it starts up and goes through the configuration process again.
I'm looking for a way to prevent Access 2007 from checking to see if it is the current version when it is started. I think by doing this I can solve my last big issue for the initial stages of our conversion.
Thanks in advance for everyone's comments and ideas.

There is currently no solution to this bug, and MS is ignorant.
If anyone can provide a solution he/she will be the expert of the month!
