Question : Fixed Vertical Position of Text/Paragraph

For some annotations and footnotes, I would like to fix it at, say, 1" from the bottom and independent of flowing text above. How could I accomplish the fixed position text?

Answer : Fixed Vertical Position of Text/Paragraph

Hi, armsys,

Word has a built-in feature for creating footnotes that are independent of document text and footers; is that what you are using?

Place the cursor in your document where you want the footnote number to appear, then go to Insert > Reference > Footnote to open the Footnote and Endnote dialog box.  There will be some display options such as numbering and page location (e.g. "bottom of page").  Make your choices and then click the Insert button to put a footnote placeholder in your document (you'll still need to type your footnote text).  If you opted for "bottom of page" then Word will place the footnote ABOVE any existing footer.  Note: the more you type into the footnote, the taller it gets, but the bottom edge of it stays fixed.  As the footnote gets taller, the document text above it will automatically wrap to the next page.

Hope that helps,
