Question : Excel 2007 wont open for Windows 7 OS

I just installed Windows 7 on my laptop and I have Excel 2007.

If I double click a document, it will open the excel application, but give an error. The error states "There was a problem sending the command to the program". I get the same error if I get an excel document in an email.

BUT if I open excel, I can tell the application to open the document and it works perfectly.

Any ideas???

just found this possible solution as well,

"I was having the same problem, but happened on a solution over at PCReview.
Try bringing up the Excel options, go to advanced and then scroll down to the
"General" section. Make sure that "Ignore other applications that use
Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)" is not checked. This fixed my problem. Hope it
helps."
