Question : Microsoft Word 2007 Cell Calculation

I'm still working on our company's Purchase Order form and still can't get it just right. I'm amazed at how many days and hours I've spent on this one form. I make a little headway each time, yet I run into more problems after each hurdle.

I've got a cell "Total" that is supposed to be the calculation of my "Subtotal" + "HazMaterials" + "Shipping" + "Tax". I had issues with the Tax cell before when it wouldn't round up properly. I was able to get that to work properly after having someone here direct me to use the "Layout" >> "Formula" option. Seems that rounding up properly only works if I use that formula method over any of the other many ways that Microsoft felt we should have to create formulas in tables. The problem is that when I do that it seems to over-write my "bookmark" I had for that "Tax" cell. My total doesn't work now. The form now rounds the tax up properly, however the total is now broke. It's just one thing after another with this miserable form.

Can anyone help me figure out what I can do put a bookmark in my tax cell so that I can reference the tax cell in the formula for my "Total" cell. If I take "Tax" out of the "Total" formula (=Subtotal+HazMaterials+Shipping+Tax) it works fine and shows the total. If I put "Tax" into that formula it stops working. I'm pretty sure the bookmark for that "Tax" cell is getting erased when I use the "Formula" option to calculate my tax. I just can't figure out how to add a bookmark to it.

I would welcome the help and direction. I'm more than ready to be done with this form once and for all and move on to my next issue.

The problem with 'fixing' problems is that the change of functionality can cause other problems.

If I understand your situation correctly, you need the field to be in a bookmark. It's easiest to insert the field first. Select the field while in field code display mode (Alt+F9 toggle), and then insert the bookmark. With bookmarks and code displayed, it should look like this:

[{ = PRODUCT(alpha, beta) }]
