Question : Formulas aren't calculating automatically

I've got a rather large spreadsheet containing about 30 different worksheets, 15 of which have graphs, and one which pulls in and summarizes numbers from the other tabs.

I've found that at some point the formulas stopped automatically calculating, though I'm not sure when.  I've noticed that if you close and come back in, or if you just click the Save button, all the formulas calculate again.  

Excel's formulas normally update as you change the fields referenced by the formulas.  Is there a point after which Excel won't auto update formulas?  If so, what is it?

go to excel > options choose tab " calculations" and select "automatic"
