Question : Error 'TCP/IP must be confirgured' when installing windows 2003 server as a first domain controller
|

I'm installing windows 2003 server enterprise edition with instructions from the MSCE 70-290 book. After the install when I try to install active directory from 'manage your server' I get the error 'The TCP/IP networking protocol must be properly configured in order to proceed. Complete the configuration.'
My PC has a working network card but is not attached to a network. I have tried to configure TCP/IP with addresses and subnets etc but cannot get past this error. Is there a way I can configure this without being part of a network? The 70-290 book doesn't mention that you have to be networked.
Any help would be appreciated

For this to work, you must be connected to something that brings up the NIC port
Active directory is simply not designed to run on a physically isolated machine :)
