Question : Is it possible to link Sharepoint Calendars to each other?

I am running sharepoint services 3.0 on a windows 2003 server. On the absence and vacation template, I have created custom workflows and everything seems to be working fine.
However, our intranet already has department sites with thier own calendars to track PTO and other important data for just that department. I want to be able to create a new absence and once approved copy from the calendar on the absence/vacation page to the other calendar.
Is this possible and if so can anyone point me in the right direction.

I think a great way to get this accomplished is to add an extra field that says something like copyPTO and when this has a check mark it displays on the PTO Calendar else it just displays on the AV calendar. Just link these 2 list and use the data between the 2. Let me know if you need exact steps and if so I will need to know how these are step up.
