Question : Printer goes offline during print job
|
|
I have a network printer that I am printing to from a win2000 machine. This does not happen consistently, but enough times during the day to cause some major headaches. It usually occurrs when printing multiple documents, the first document will print and then the printer will go offline. But the printer's LCD screen says that it is ready. Other PCs can print to the printer at this time as well. Unfortunately, for the affected PC the only solution is to delete all print jobs and then restart. The printer will then be online and work fine for a while until this happens again. Any suggestions?

Sounds like maybe a spooling problem. There are only so many options so just go to printers | rt-clk printer | properties. Under ports there is an enable spooling check box. Under Advanced there are 3 options there. I could only guess to the best settings. If you feel the printer is being overburdened Try:
enable print spooling. start printing after last page is spooled. (this may stall the computer sending the job)
OR if the host computer is the problem you may want to choose send directly to printer.
