Question : WINDOWS SERVER 2008 BACKUP

Reading on technet, it says I can selectively backup files with Server 2008 backup.  However, whenever I run it, the only options I have is to backup complete volumes.  In addition, it wants to format my external drive instead of storing it in a folder.

All I want to do is backup the c: drive for a baremetal restore, and selective files on our d: drive, which acts as a share for users to store information.  I do not want to backup everything on that drive, just a couple of folders.

On the surface, it appears that Microsoft has decided to dumb down the utility somewhat. I say this because the new version no longer allows you to back up individual files or folders. Instead, you are forced to back up an entire volume, even if you are really only interested in a single file.
