Question : [MS-Word]    Borders for Cells

O/S:           Windows 2000 Professional, SPK 4
App:           MS Word2002 SP3

Borders around cells can no longer be seen on the screen.

This is the way things are supposed to work in Word and indeed this is the way it does work on most of my computers.
Let's say you create a new table - 5 columns, two rows (the default).
If you print it out there's a grid of 10 cells.

If you select the table and then goto \Format\Borders&Shading  and change the settings to "Box"... the inner borders will no longer be seen on the printout, so it will look like one big cell. However on the screen the inner borders will still be visible, although they will be lighter than the outside border.

That's the way it should work and indeed this is the way it does work on most of my computers.
However on one of my computers, with Box setting the inner borders will not be visible on the screen.

For a visual representation of what's happening pls see the attachment.

I know this is not a document-centric thing because the same document behaves differently on two different computers. So it must be the Word preferences on the problem computer.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Gary

Check that Table Gridlines are turned on.  In Word 2003, this is the Show Gridlines selection on the Table menu.
