Question : Feature ID not registered
When I attempt to open comma delimited text files in Excel 2000 I receive the following error:
Microsoft Excel can't load the required converter. The feature is not currently installed. Would you like to install it now?
Whether or not I click Yes or No, I get the following error:
Microsoft Excel can't load the required converter. Microsoft Excel cannot install the necessary files due to Windows Installer error 1606. Feature ID not registered.
After clicking OK, it eventually allows you to view the text file, but this error occurs on every attempt.
I took the following actions to try and resolve the issue:
- Reinstalled MS Office
- Reinstalled Windows Installer 2.0 (MSI)
- Reinstalled Windows 2000 SP2
- Reinstalled MS Office 2000 SP2
Answer : Feature ID not registered
PAQ'd and all 500 points refunded.
