Question : How do I add a 2008 Domain Controller to a 2003 Server network?
I have a 32bit 2003 Standard Server acting as the domain controller. I also just bought a 2008 64bit Standard Server that I want to install on the network and over a few weeks time phase out the 2003 Server. So I joined the 2k8 Server to the network. I then installed the .net3.5 feature and the Active Directory Domain Services on the 2k8 machine. I raised the functional level on the 2k3 machine to 2k3. I then put the adprep tool on the c of the 2k3 machine and ran adprep32 /forestprep from the command line. Everytime it fails and tells me that the schema didn't connect. I look at the 2k8 machine and the ADDS is not running. It is installed but when I try to start it, it just fails. How to I set this up?
Thanks, Shane

HI there,
Did you also run adprep /domainprep of the 2k3 server after forest prep?
