Question : XP Clients won't pick up SBS 2008 Drive Mappings from Group Policy

I recently migrated a client from sbs 2003 to sbs 2008. There have been a few snags, but a fairly good migration. However, there are about 3 XP clients that are having issues with folder redirection and drive mapping. one machine is not picking up either and the other two pick up folder redirectoin (for my documents) but no mapped drives.

There are about 30 comptuers and all but 3 are seeing the new mapped drives. It is a user based group policy and it shows up on the 3 trouble machines under gpresults. The one odd thing i have noticed is that they are getting their user based GP from one server and computer based from another. this should not matter since the gp is replicated....

the sbs 2008 machine is the PDC and is the master of all roles. I have been unable to find this specific solution in my limited searching the past couple of days.

Answer : XP Clients won't pick up SBS 2008 Drive Mappings from Group Policy

If the old SBS server hasnt been demoted, The Migration guide - tells you to remove old legacy GPOs.  Make sureyou have removed all legacy GPOs.

With SBS 2008 - You will need the CSEs For mappings, folder etc.. - usually it should trickle down through WSUS. if not - just download and run KB943729.

Should resolve your problems...
