Question : Asus F3KA Notebook Headphone Jack not working

Hello:

I'm working on an Asus F3KA notebook (Vista 32bit Home Premium, updated to SP1), and we are having trouble getting the headphone jack to work. Here is the behavior we observe:

Sound comes out of the speakers as normal, but when hooking up headphones/external speakers, there is no sound. The laptop's internal speakers turn off as they should, but no sound comes out.

I personally own a Asus G1S, and I know that the headphone jack is a dual mode jack, with both optical and mini-stereo in one hookup. You have to choose the correct mode in the Vista sound control panel for it to work correctly though. This F3KA does not have the setting for this (at least in the control panel). I have installed the ASUS supplied driver, as well as the newer one from the Realtek website, and it still does not work. I am leaning towards the actual jack being faulty, but I would like to check on here first to see if anyone has a fix for this, software-wise. Let me know!

Answer : Asus F3KA Notebook Headphone Jack not working

i think it is a bad connector, or sound section...
