Question : Touchpad stopped working on my Sony Vaio laptop

No apparent reason...just stopped. Windows vista did one of its updates then it restarted my computer. When it restarted was when the touchpad stopped working. I am using a plug in mose now and it works fine. I have restored my system to a date previous of the updates, still nothing.

In Device Manager, there is no tap and click or anything similar. It just shows the mouse, which doesnt help.
I,m not able to see the driver or check if its installed correctly because it isnt where it should be in the human interface area of device manager.

Answer : Touchpad stopped working on my Sony Vaio laptop

To get into BIOS setup, you usually have to press F1 or F2 or something, just afterpower-on, before windows starts to load. Your manual should tell you all about it. A "Live CD" is a bootable CD that has an operating system on it. The computer runs entirely off the CD, nothing is installed on the HD. Very userful, if a problem can be either hardware- or software-related. The most common Live CDs are Knoppix (www.knoppix.org) and Ubuntu (www.ubuntu.com). They're Linux-based, but that doesn't have much impact as nothing is installed and they have a nice GUI for testing the mouse and such.
