To get into BIOS setup, you usually have to press F1 or F2 or something, just afterpower-on, before windows starts to load. Your manual should tell you all about it. A "Live CD" is a bootable CD that has an operating system on it. The computer runs entirely off the CD, nothing is installed on the HD. Very userful, if a problem can be either hardware- or software-related. The most common Live CDs are Knoppix (
www.knoppix.org) and Ubuntu (
www.ubuntu.com). They're Linux-based, but that doesn't have much impact as nothing is installed and they have a nice GUI for testing the mouse and such.
