Question : GPO Package error
|
|
I am running server 2000.
Im trying to create a software library to deploy programs for my end users to install all by their selves.
When ever I create the new package and point the location to a dfs share or a regular share i keep getting the following error!
Cannot verify path is a network location. if the package is not available from a network share, client will not be able to install it. are you sure you want to deploy this package using this path
my software-distro folder is my dfs root E:\software-distro\sp4\update\update.msi

Answer : GPO Package error

I concur as well. ALWAYS use \\servername\folder\subfolder\subfolder\filename.MSI when you are assigning/publishing software packages via GP. Gotta make sure your domain users have read/execute permissions on that folder as well or it will fail too.
