Question : IIS Anonymous User Password
|
|
I think this may be an issue we are having but I do not know enough about this and this may be a very basic question to most.
We have a test webserver running IIS 6.0 ... I was having some issues for users trying to view the websites without having to login so I checked the Anonymus User Account in the Active Directory and changed the password to something I know ... now all the test sites word except one since I went into the website properties of each site and changed the anonymous user password to the same one I just changed in the Active Directory for the Anonymous User.
The site that does not work acts like it does not like the changed password for this user ...
My question is ... what is the default password for the Anonymous User that is preset in Server 2003 ? Since it is protected I changed it to make sure they matched but maybe I should not have ?

Answer : IIS Anonymous User Password

I believe that the short answer is no. Once you change the password it is changed for good. Simply setting it to be complex should be enough. If you then create a new site it should, although I've not confirmed this myself, use the new password.
You can get IIS to manage it as per my first post but that is not quite the same.
