Question : Error when Sorting or Filtering - Type mismatch in JOIN expression. (Error 3615)

I have a form in an Access 2003 database - when I try to do anything to it I get an error


Right-Click any field - then Sort Ascending
Right-Click a different field - then Filter by Selection

doing any of the above generates an error -  Type mismatch in JOIN expression. (Error 3615)

if I open the query bound to this form and try to sort and filter - it works fine.

This is a database someone sent to me - I did not create it... but I am trying to fix it
I tried a com[pact/repair as well as a decomppile - still happens

Any help is appreciated
