Question : Icons from Start>All Programs have disappeared

Most of my icons from Start>All Programs have disappeared.  System Restore is disabled by GPO, I have tried to recreate my local profile and restore from a back up profile I have.  The Apps are still on the machine definitley, but are not listed under all programs.  I also tried a repair of MS Office requesting it re-create the s/cuts, but this didn't work.

Any ideas why this has happened/how I can get them back?  Other than manually creating them one by one.  I have about 40 s/cuts o re-add!

This can happen when you run a registry cleaner - and you are not particularly choosy about what it gets rid of.

Reinstalling the software - or manually re-creating the shortcuts seems the next step - as the only place these are stored is in your local profile on the computer you are currently working at...

Perhaps you can find a local profile that hasn't updated since the icons were lost - and copy the relevant "Start Menu" folder over to the roaming profile.
