Question : Unable to export/open a SharePoint list in Excel

This is a request a user sent to me.  I'm not sure what he's doing or what it means.  :-)  Hopefully someone understands and can help.  Thanks!

Creation of export/query file appea"s to go ok (owssvr.iqy if saving, owssvr.dll if opening immediately). Excel gives error message, "Cannot get the list schema column property from the SharePoint list."

Find out of the user has any columns that are setup as Date and Time columns.  If so, have them convert it to a single line of text, export the data, and then convert it back to a Date and Time column.
