Ok...I rewrote the entire thing. It's much more efficient now. You still use it the same way. It no longer makes any changes to the original workbook at all..(although in the old version you did not have to save any changes in the original anyway)...but now it doesn't make any anyway.
It also opens a new workbook and uses that to create the new file instead of turning this file into the new workbook.
It copies the sheets tab color and in my tests it did copy links also.
This is the only other way I know that will decrease the size of a file. It seems to work about as good as the first one. You'll have to try it and see how it works for you...
