Question : Need Win98 compatible laser printer

I need to purchase a Windows-98 (probably SE, not sure) compatible printer. The computer has NO internet connection. It must run Windows 98, due to a proprietary hardware installation. The requirement is a non-USB printer. Ideally, the drivers would be included on the Windows 98 disc. My initial thought is to use Ebay to purchase an HP Laserjet 4. Better / cheaper ideas?

There are actually many current model Lasers that have LPT ports, and a few also have Windows 98 drivers.    I'd buy one of those, as it will be much easier to get toner cartridges;  and it will have a current warranty.

Note that MOST HP lasers will work fine with older Laserjet drivers -- but HP no longer provides 98 drivers for any current models, so the only sure way to confirm that a specific model will work with the older drivers is to try it.    I would expect, for example, that this model would work fine with the older drivers, but do not know that for a fact:  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16828115363

On the other hand, an old Laserjet from ebay will indeed do the trick ... and would certainly meet your goal of  "... Ideally, the drivers would be included on the Windows 98 disc ..."
