Question : Cannot load TPSMain.exe as CpuPerf.dll not found

Hi,
My laptop shows an error during XP startup.  "TPSMain.exe not able to start due to CpuPerf.dll not found".
I have tried the Toshiba web site and Google as well as EE but I can not find a comprehensive fix.  From my research I believe that this dll and exe file role is in the power management utility.  The system seems to work OK without it however if I am to squeeze reasonable life out of the battery then I guess this utility needs to function.

I don't have an XP disk with this laptop as the OS came installed and with a backup partition on the hard drive.

I have run PCTOOLs Registry Mechanic. Also run Spyware Doctor and Norton NIS 2008 without sign of any malware using these programs.

I would appreciate advice in regarding repair of this part of the OS.

You just need to download the proper Toshiba Power Utility and install it. You have the Tecra S2 series. First, un-install the existing Power Utility if it is present in add-remove programs.

Next, download from here:

http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/ta3-ts2tpsx.exe

Finally, run the executable to install the program.
