Question : How to secure server 2008 network with wireless access point

I have a very basic setup here at home. Server 2008 running DC role with DHCP and DNS, only have a few users so resources are not highly consumed. This is shared with a few desktops wired into a switch along with a small NAS appliance. I have a netgear N band wireless router switch plugged into the switch I am only using the wifi ability to gain Domain access. MY internet connection and security is handled by a cisco asa 5505.

I would like to secure, lock down the wireless portion. I am willing to do whatever it takes in terms of time and work. I have looked at Radius or NAP i think its called in server 2008 but not sure that is the best idea. I am also toying with the idea of ssl/ tls.

Any help would be great!

Ocassionally we have guests but they would not need access to the domain just internet, not sure if I can do that with what I have.

Thank you!

Answer : How to secure server 2008 network with wireless access point

You don't need radius, it's a lot more straightforward than that.

(1) Make the ssid something random.

(2) Turn off ssid broadcasting.

(3) Use either WPA or preferably WPA2 encryption with a decent encryption key.

(4) Turn on MAC filtering.

That's about it!
