Question : Rename a user in SBS 2003 R2 active directory
|
|
Check my thinking and please let me know why things don't happen the way I expect:
User bob stone leave the company. But mail may still come in at his address. Jane smith takes over for him.
in active directory / server management under users, we don't want to disable his account, we need to change the password so he can't log in anymore and forward the mail (under exchange general tab) to jane, right? And check the box to hide him from the exchange address lists under exchange advanced tab. Good, right?
But I want to clean up the list of users - have his name at the bottom of the list in server namangement. so I want to add zzz to the start of his name - so I can see at a glance that I did these steps and he's not part of the current company employees.
I double click on the user and add zzz to his first name, the display name and even under email addresses - x400. refresh and the zzz isn't there. BUT if I right click on his name, choose rename and then add the zzz there, it takes effect immediately. What is that rename box doing differently than I am doing manually?
Thanks!
