Question : Upgrading Server 2008 Evaluation Version to Fully Licensed

Hi Guys, we have installed Server 2008 but are wondering if we will be able to easily update/upgrade to an official  license when the product is released?  And if so how does that normally get accomplished?  My boss says that you usually have to do a fresh install. :\

Answer : Upgrading Server 2008 Evaluation Version to Fully Licensed

Chances are it is a full reinstall however the upgrade shoudl be very simple.  You would un-install the evaluation version, choosing to keep the database.  Then, install the full liscensed version and choose to use the existing database.  All configuration and information should still be there.  You may need to re-add the perimiter hosts if they show not responding
And also one small issue is that you will need to re-configure your administrator groups since they will be wiped out during upgrade.
