Question : Avoiding subtotals in a pivot table

How do I globally disable displaying of subtotals in a pivot table. Presently whenever I add a field to a pivot table It displays subtotals by default. How can I default it to Subtotals:None so that I do not have to modify the field settings every time I add a field to the pivot table?

There is no way to turn off this default behaviour. You could write a macro that removes subtotals from all rowfields in the selected pivot table?
