Servers - windows 2003 Standard Edition x32 Client = Windows XP
Site has a DC, and can access all our global DC's The site, including the DC has 5 servers, alas it is now remote from me
A standard user can connect to any share on any of the servers bar 1. If I do a \\ for any server I see all shares and printers, but on this last server I get the following error The error is a 1396 Logon Failure - the target account name is incorrect.
If I add the user to the OU Admins group, they can see all the shares and work normally
DNS looks OK, I have demoted the server from the domain, reset the computer account and readded. Everything I see so far indicates a DNS or replication issue, but all seem to talk about a DC, this is not a DC
I am thinking about removing it from the domain and then deleting the account, wait a while and then readd and put back onto the domain. wondered if there were any other suggestons as while the users are now working, it is not ideal them being admins.
Cheers

Go to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa and find the 'CrashOnAuditFail' key
0 turns off the feature, 1 enables the feature but still allows users access (PRA-FPS101 value is set to 1)
Save and restart!
For some reason this server was set to 2. Changing to 1 and the server is now OK
