Question : Computer Freezes when entering standby and hibernate

Hello,
When I try to enter standby or hibernate, my dell latitude will freeze up on either the preparing to hibernate screen (for hibernate) or with a black screen (for standby), while keeping on the system and fan, and the power light stays on, and the wifi light stays on. the only to get the system to respond is to hold the power button to do a hard shutdown and turn it back on. I tried system restore and it fixed the problem for one standby cycle, but now again i cannot go into standby anymore or hibernate. any help is greatly appreciated. THanks!

Answer : Computer Freezes when entering standby and hibernate

Try booting in the Bios & tweaking the Power options under Power Management.

I think you need to set some value in the motherboard state to S3.

Have you seen if Dell is offering a BIOS upgrade for your Model. Issues which you are mentioning are typical related to BIOS settings.

You can try typing sfc /scannow at the Run Prompt of Windows. (Windows + R key combo will bring up the Rund Dialog Box). This will scan for & replace corrupt system files.

Ravi.
