Question : Dell Dimension 9150 with XP running terribly slow

I've been troubleshooting an office Pc running XP pro. It has terrible performance. It takes five minutes to close an IE window. I installed Malwarebytes and the system locked up three times as the scan was starting. I ran it in safe mode and it came up with three modules found: Two were dotnet protection; the other was a browser toolbar. The three were removed, but the system has not gotten any better.

I cleaned cache, cookies, ran disk cleanup and ran a Dell tune-up app that came with it. Nothing helps.

It has 2 Gigs of ram and plenty of drive space and Nortons AntiVirus. Any suggestions?

Whats the CPU Usage? Under the performance Tab, whats the CPU Usage, and the Commit Charge values form the bottom?

start>run>eventvwr.msc

Under the System Log, sort by the SOURCE column, and see if there are any Disk Errors....

Also, the question above was asked, if this happened in all profiles.... If neeed, create another user account to retest....

And I would scrap Norton..... Which version is it?
