Question : MSJet
|
|
Hi, A known bug in Access2000 causes Access to crash when inserting a row into the database via a certain query type. The cause is due to MSJET4.dll. There is a hotfix for this.
In my global environment, i'd like to make this change global as well (even though many users do not use Access).
My question is, will this affect the OS or any other MS applications for users not using Access ?
Logically, i guess it won't, but better safe than sorry! Thanks !

I have run a lot of hot fixes for ms applications of all sorts including office application. I have never run into a problem with any of their hot fixes. All of the other MS Applications work fine and the OS is unaffected. The only thing to look out for is if a machine is running two different version of Access. We are still stuck between Access97 and Access2000, parts of the application in each. But we still run hot fixes and the registry keys keep the versions separate. So, if the hot fix is working in a complicated scenario like ours, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
