Question : NetBIOS
I have just migrated from windows 2003 to windows 2008. Each user has a script file that maps all network drives. For some reasons I have several computers that want to keep looking for the old server. The update script is being ignored which points to the new server.
I have disconnected all old network drives, I have removed the computer from the Domain and re-connected to the Domain, I have deleted all the old registry items that referred to the old server.
Someone told me this is related to the NetBIOS being confused. If this is the case how to, I repair the NetBIOS? The computers are running XP Pro.
Thanks.
Answer : NetBIOS
I would remove the script from the Default Domain Policy then add a new GPO that applies the script. You shouldn't create GPOs in the Default Domain Policy.
